Meet Your Doula

Clarissa is a San Antonio native, who loves being a wife and mother to two little girls, and also enjoys praying or exercising to relieve stress. She first felt drawn to work with women and babies during her labor and delivery rotation of nursing school. Upon graduating nursing school in 2020, Clarissa got hired into the ICU (where there was the greatest need due to COVID), and worked in critical care for the next four years. Amidst the craziness of the pandemic, Clarissa and her husband Daniel were blessed with their first pregnancy in 2020. Clarissa had done much research on natural births, and decided to attempt a “low-intervention” hospital birth. However, she got practically every intervention she was hoping not to get, including a Cesarean section. Her less-than-ideal birth experience inspired Clarissa to become a doula in order to help other women be supported and empowered to have the birth they always wanted. Clarissa's second birth was a redemptive HBAC (home birth after Cesarean), so she has a special place in her heart for anyone attempting a VBAC.

Client Testimonials

*Words from former clients.*

Clarissa is a reliable, faithful, doula. She consistently showed up on time and checked on me regularly via text between visits. She set out to accomplish all the things that I asked her to do. Our house was extremely busy with five other children on top of the newborn and Clarissa did not shy away from the enormous tasks I needed help with. Without her help, it would have been extremely difficult to get back to our routines. It was wonderful being able to rely on her during that crazy time! Thank you, Clarissa for your diligence, perseverance, and dependability.

Clarissa is one of those beautiful women whom God gifted to be a doula. She not only has a “momma sense” from her own experience but she brings with her the skills and talents of being a nurse. First she helped me flip my baby from breech to head down! I left the doctors office helpless and she was there for us with not only ways for me to help flip the baby but also came to the home to show me how to do the exercises that helped flip the baby. She was able to be there for us when labor began and assisted with awesome ideas and prepared ways of working through each contraction. The coolest experience my husband and I witnessed was the way she helped from her nurse background: my IV was put in wrong and my hand was aching; she got the best nurse on the floor to come put one in a different spot, which felt amazing. She was right beside the nurse helping me with positions after the epidural, and was able to catch something about the IV bag and fluids running out. Her nurse background really came in handy in our situation. She has poise and grace. She speaks respectfully to the nurses who are helping and makes herself a part of the “team” helping me give birth. She helped us pray and was always having something to offer whether it was food, support, or check in to make sure I was ok. She gave me a peace filled, wonderful labor and delivery experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Clarissa for anyone who wants to have an awesome teammate helping you and your husband experience labor in such a better way then being alone. She is a personal friend who wants to help you have a great experience in laboring so that your family can bring baby into this world joyfully while experiencing the courageous gift of labor. I’ll never go without a doula now! Get to know her sweet heart and she will surely get to know you and be able to help wonderfully!

We hired Clarissa as our Doula when I was near my due date, as a good friend put us in contact with each other. From the very start, she was very friendly and easy to talk to. She made me feel confident about my birth by going over our birth plan with options I had never considered. During the birth she was a very attentive, caring and calm presence, and postpartum she was a great resource to have in navigating being a first time mom. We appreciate all her efforts to help us with our baby girl and feel lucky to have her be a part of our birthing experience.

Soon after meeting Clarissa, I realized it was a prompt answer to prayer. At the time, I was living in San Antonio, TX while my husband completed his medical residency. Our daughter was seven months old. My husband and I had no family in San Antonio, and it was challenging having no one to watch my daughter on the few occasions that I needed to go to doctor appointments alone. I met Clarissa through mutual friends at a birthday lunch. First, I was surprised to learn that our daughters had the same (unique) name! Then, I was surprised to learn that she was a doula. (The postpartum doula who had been assisting me had just moved to another state and I mentioned to my husband I wished I could find another soon.) After learning that Clarissa was a doula, I asked if she included childcare as part of her postpartum services. She said, “Yes.” I liked her and felt I could trust her with my daughter. (I also soon learned that we shared a longtime, mutual friend. It certainly felt like confirmation!) Even though I had only just met Clarissa, I felt at ease with her coming to my home and watching my daughter. She is a trustworthy, knowledgeable, dedicated professional living out her vocation as a mother and advocate for other mothers. If you’re looking for doula support, look no further—I’m confident that Clarissa can provide the support that you need, whether you’re expecting a baby or are in the postpartum period.
